Daniel 3 exemplifies what we want to be as a company. It is a common belief that Babylon is used in the Bible as a metaphor for the current world or societal worldview, in which, you live. In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to worship a golden image created by the king of Babylon knowing that the consequences of his action would lead to death by being thrown into a furnace. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego embraced the furnace rather than serving a false god. We at Abednego Coffee Roasters, hope to do the same, trusting that God is with us, leading the way.

Daniel 3:16-17

“O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego

Before a coffee bean is roasted it is hard, green, has no taste nor flavor and its unique characteristics are hidden deep within, only through the roasting process and through fire are its qualities brought to life and revealed.
